One of the primary ways that LEADstrike drives customer acquisition is through their referral program. "We offer a 30-day free trial, so by the time a customer signs up they're already super excited about the results they're getting. For our referral program, we really want to catch people right then, when they're pumped up," explained Chris Duncan, owner of LEADstrike.

But onboarding new customers to the referral program was a time-consuming manual process. It often took LEADstrike over a week *just* to get around to it. They wanted to completely automate their referral setup and invitation process — and LEADstrike accomplished this with Xano.

Solutions

Duncan doesn't come from a technical background, so he hired an experienced Xano user to help him jumpstart development. In just one hour over a Zoom call, they completed the initial version — this would have taken a developer two days to code from scratch. Then, Duncan spent another hour adding additional functionality on his own.

Implement extensive automations

The LEADstrike team only needs to manually add the customer to Stripe — and then automation takes over.

Their solution uses a range of Xano's scheduled and triggered automation features. A customer gets added in LEADstrike's referral software, where an affiliate link gets created. They automatically receive an email and follow-up with all their program information. After their 30-day trial, Xano's background tasks automatically move the customer to a different recurring royalties program.

LEADstrike has a two-tiered royalty program — 33% for the first 30 days, and 20% after. Duncan explained that they never would have been able to implement this without Xano. "Doing this manually would have added too much to our plate."

Why Xano?

Duncan had used other development and automation platforms like Zapier, but quickly hit performance limits. When he found out about Xano, he was initially concerned — particularly about whether it would be as buggy as these other platforms.

Duncan quickly realized this wasn't the case. "Xano is well-developed and super reliable."

    He wanted to connect LEADstrike's payment processing system, referral software, and email platform. Many other platforms couldn't achieve this, but Xano connects to any system with an API integration.

  2. Xano allows for full control over the development process, even without technical experience.
    Duncan had no technical background, but Xano's visual development interface made learning and building fast and intuitive. "You can hire a developer to write code—or you can simply use Xano to do what you want to do. Using Xano will be a lot cheaper, and if you ever want to make a change, you'll be able to do it yourself. So why not try that first?"
